Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A very good copy (slight spine lean; top edge dusty) in a very good dust jacket with a few short tears. This copy is inscribed to the San Francisco restaurant owners Ed and Mary Etta Moose, with whom Wolfe was friends for decades. A 1996 New York Times article (April 10) about the Mooses' restaurants reported, "Some specialties aren't on the menu. When in town, the author Tom Wolfe orders Day Boat Scallops, caught daily and rushed back to Moose's kitchen."
The full-page inscription in this copy reads, "For Ed and Mary Etta, with a demand that we re-convene SOON on either coast or in-between! Tom Wolfe. Love and Happy New Year! January 1 1977."
