This volume of Caro's life of LBJ, a projected five volumes that has taken Caro almost as long to write as it took the former president to live, traces Johnson's life to 1941, when he failed to win a seat in his first run for the US Senate. The Path to Power won the National Book Critics Circle award for biography.

Edition + Condition: First edition (stated). A very good copy in a very good, price-clipped dust jacket. Signed by Caro on the half-title page. Small, light stains on the top edge; light shelfwear to boards. Picture on jacket spine yellowed a bit. This copy has a slightly mis-trimmed dust jacket, with the top of the picture on the back cover repeated in a narrow band at the bottom of the jacket.
