Notes: The memoirs of a soldier in the wars for South American independence from Spain. López joined the guerrillas as a teenager and by the time the war was won, he was an assistant to Simón Bolívar.
The book includes folding military situation maps of the battles of Cariaco (Bombona), Junin, Matará, and Ayacucho. There is a frontispiece plate portrait of the author and plates depicting Bolívar and Antonio José de Sucre.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A very good copy in an early 20th century quarter leather binding with the ownership name of Delio Cifuentes on the spine. Endpapers spotted, lower corners of boards chipped; text and maps very good or better. Bookseller ink stamp on the title page.
Delio Cifuentes Porras (1867–1921) was a civil engineer educated at the Escuela Militar in Colombia. He was a founding member of the Sociedad Geográfica.
