Latin American Utopian Cities
La ciudad hidroespacial: Arquitectura y urbanismo hidroespacial; Maquetas y proyectos de vivienda; Memorias descriptivas permutables
Publication: Buenos Aires: Ediciones Anzilotti, 1972. First Edition.
Notes: A short overview of the artist Gyula Kosice's proposals for a new kind of urban environment. "The force of his proposal is demonstrated in a series of maquettes made up of very clear images of the habitat wherein daily living, poetry, and art will become intermingled... Kosice offers possible openings for doing away with the numbness of urban accumulation."
The artiist (born Ferdinand Fallik, an ethnic Hungarian born in Czechoslovakia and later naturalized as a citizen of Argentina; 1924–2016) began working on his Hydrospatial City in 1946; he completed the project in 1972, on which occasion this pamphlet was published. The text, which includes essays and fragments by the artist as well as others, is in English, French, and Spanish, although most of the content is in just one or two of those languages.
