Notes: A nice, large double-page lithographed map with attractive period outline color of China.

This map was included in an edition of Johnston's oft-reprinted National Atlas of Historical, Commercial, and Political Geography. A previous owner has dated this to 1857, which seems plausible. The map includes text about the five Chinese cities opened to European commerce and an inset of the Canton River to Macau (handcolored in blue).
