This copy came from Gould's Harvard office library, and it may be a contributor's copy, specially signed by the writers on the half-title page. Gould, a National Book Award-winning science writer and one of the leading evolutionary theorists of the late 20th century, was passionate about baseball and often wrote on the subject. This collection reprints his essay Why No One Hits .400 Anymore.
