One of 26 Copies of Farmer's Best-Known Works
Venus on the Half-Shell and Others [Lettered, Signed]
Publication: Burton, MI: Subterranean Press, 2008. First Edition.
Notes: One of 26 lettered copies of this collection of Farmer's stories and novellas written under pseudonyms, including the title work, a classic bit of meta-fiction in which Farmer wrote in the persona of Kilgore Trout, a character from Kurt Vonnegut's novels.
This book also includes two Farmer essays about Kilgore Trout, his Sherlock Holmes - Tarzan mashup, The Adventure of the Peerless Peer by "John H. Watson, M.D." Farmer (1918–2009) wrote a lot of science fiction but he will probably be remembered for these works where he pretended to be someone else.
This is one of 26 signed, lettered copies in a traycase. There were also 125 signed and numbered copies and an unsigned trade edition.
340 pages. Edited by Christopher Paul Carey.
SOURCE: Purchased recently at auction.
Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). This is copy V of 26 lettered copies signed by Farmer on the limitation page. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket in a very near fine traycase.
