KISS Autograph at a Dermatologist's Office
Autograph of KISS Drummer Peter Criss
Publication: [ca. mid-1970s].
Notes: This autograph was obtained by a young boy in the 1970s who shared a dermatologist with KISS drummer Peter Criss. The autograph reads, "KISS Peter Criss 3" (Criss usually adds his lucky number 3 to his signatures). The original recipient believes that Criss had to see a dermatologist because of the effects of wearing so much make-up as a member of the band. Whether this is true or not, your cataloger cannot say, but it's a good story.
The autograph is signed with a ballpoint pen on one of the physician's prescription forms. The reported date of the autograph is consistent with the prescription form's printed telephone number, "UN 1-9600." Two-letter telephone exchanges were finally eliminated in New York City in 1978 (if you believe Wikipedia) and this form likely dates from a few years earlier.
5-1/2 by 4 inches.
SOURCE: The previous owner brought this into my shop in Portland along with some other items. Rock star autographs aren't usually my jam, but how could I resist a KISS autograph on a dermatologist's prescription form?
