Notes: A nice inscribed hardcover copy of Sendak's classic children's book, which won the Caldecott Medal in 1964.
Edition + Condition: This is an undated vintage copy, after 1974 (the rear flap of the dust jacket says that the illustrations were re-engraved from the original art in that year). The jacket flap price of $8.95 suggests a late 1970s or early 1980s date, which is when this copy was inscribed. The inscription reads, "To Peter Schaefer—hi! Maurice Sendak, June 5, '81."
The book is near fine; the jacket has tanned some at the spine and there are a few short edge tears. The lower corner of the front flap is clipped, as issued, to remove the library binding price.
