Notes: A signed first edition of this collection of essays about Spike Lee's films paired with black-and-white photographs from the sets.
The contributors include Spike Lee (introduction); Lee's brother, the movie photographer David Lee (photographs), Melvin Van Peebles (foreword), and Terry McMillan, Toni Cade Bambara, Nelson George, Charles Johnson, and and Henry Louis Gates, who all contribute essays. The essays each focus on one of Spike Lee's first five films. Spike Lee was the youngest person to win an honorary Occar and he later won the Academy Award for best screenplay.

Edition + Condition: First edition, wrappers issue (first printing, with a numberline ending in 1). There was a simultaneous hardcover version. This copy is very good to near fine, with minor wear to the corners. Inscribed, "To Paula, love Spike Lee" on the first blank. This book is rather uncommon signed.
