Notes: One of 26 lettered copies of this classic horror novel, with an original drawing (remarque) by the illustrator, Jeremy Caniglia. This is the first publication of the revised text incorporating changes that Blatty was unable to make when the book was first published. "For most of these past forty years I have rued not having done a thorough second draft and careful polish of the dialogue and prose." This definitive version was issued in an edition of just 400 copies (374 numbered and 26 lettered), all signed by Blatty.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing) of the revised text, issued as the 40th anniversary edition. This is a fine copy in a fine dust jacket and slipcase, which has a couple of minor discolored areas on the front cover. Signed by Blatty on the limitation page. This is copy G, from the Tom Garner collection of Subterranean Press (and its subsidiary, Lonely Road) and is accompanied by the original receipt. Caniglia added an original drawing of a skull.
