Notes: Three inscribed versions of this dark comic novel about a door-to-door salesman's quest to win the annual sales contest and achieve the American Dream. These three books come from the collection of Crews's friend and fan Tom Garner, who commissioned a black cloth slipcase to house them.

* Advance reading copy (ARC), signed by Crews;
* Uncorrected proof in yellow wrappers, inscribed "For Tom, all best, Harry Crews."

Edition + Condition: The first edition (first printing with a numberline ending in 1) is fine in a fine dust jacket. The ARC is fine in wrappers; someone (not Tom) tried to remove the publication date label from the front cover, but the book is otherwise fine. The clamshell box is near fine. A nice group of books.
