Notes: A group of McMurtry-signed copies of this novel about two Cherokee warriors after the Civil War. This was a collaborative project between McMurtry and Ossana, who was McMurtry's co-author on the Oscar-winning script for Brokeback Mountain.

This Zeke and Ned collection is housed in a custom clamshell box. It contains a copy of the first edition; a copy of the uncorrected proof in yellow printed wrappers, and a large 8-1/2 by 11-inch tapebound proof. The large-format proof is quite uncommon; it reproduces the typeset pages and a final round of copyediting markings.

All three books are signed by McMurtry.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing, with a numberline ending in 1) of the trade edition. The trade book is fine in a fine dust jacket. The proofs are near fine. The box is also near fine. The books are signed only by McMurtry.

Enclosed with the book is Larry McMurtry's copy of Ed Dorn's Gran Apacheria (with his bookplate). Accompanying that book is a short note addressed to "Diana" (possibly Diane Ossana) recommending the book. The note was written while McMurtry was working on Zeke and Ned and the subject matter--Native Americans--is similar.
