Inscribed to a Fellow Chilean Writer
Antología 1916–1953
Publication: Santiago de Chile: Multitud, 1954. First Edition.
Notes: A massive lifetime survey of this Chilean poet's work, inscribed by the author.
While not well known in the United States, Rokha is considered one of the great Chilean poets of the twentieth century, alongside Pablo Neruda, Vicente Huidobro, and Gabriela Mistral.
[xxii], [4], 9–571, [1], CXIX, [5] pages. 7-1/2 by 10-3/4 inches. Illustrated with many halftone photographs.
Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A very good hardcover copy. Inscribed, "A Fernando Alegría, un amigo de otros tiempos, con un saludo cordial de Pablo de Rokha. Santiago de Chile 9-VIII-1956." Alegría was a Chilean poet who taught at Stanford. This book might have been issued in a dust jacket, but I haven't seen one.
