Four Signed Letters
Three Typed Letters, Signed plus a Typed Note Signed to the Publisher of Eurographica
Publication: Sarasota, Florida: 1985-1986.
Notes: Four letters from MacDonald to Roland Pieraccini arranging for the publication of The Annex and Other Stories by Eurographica, a limited edition publisher in Helsinki, Finland.
In the first letter, dated 2 May 1985, MacDonald expresses his general agreement to the project and suggests three possible stories, previously published in magazines in the 1950s and 1960s. Those stories, plus one other, ended up in the finished book. A short note, dated 28 Sept 85, informs Pieraccini that he will soon hear from MacDonald's literary agent. On April 26, 1986, MacDonald tells the publisher that he will be in Florida until July and will be able to sign the frontispiece pages during that time (the books are actually signed on the title page). On June 9, MacDonald confirms that he signed the sheets and forwarded them on to the printer, at a cost of $210.
The three letters are accompanied by the original envelopes. The note does not include an envelope. A typed letter from MacDonald's assistant explaining the delayed response to the first letter, which was due to MacDonald being out of the country.
A nice collection of letters concerning one of MacDonald's only limited editions. Letters from MacDonald are not common on the market.
Edition + Condition: Letters folded for mailing, else fine. All four MacDonald items are signed in ink.
