With a Drawing
The Fallen Man [with Original Illustration]
Publication: New York: Harper Collins, 1996. First Edition.
Notes: A murder mystery featuring Navajo Tribal Police officers Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn here in a special edition with an ink-and-pastel drawing by Franklin on the half-title. The illustration in this copy is of a skull rising out of the New Mexico landscape.
Ernest Franklin was a Navajo artist who liked embellishing Hillerman's books with drawings reflecting Native culture.
Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing, with a numberline ending in 1). A fine copy in a fine dust jacket, signed by Hillerman on the title page and by Franklin in his drawing. This copy does not include the optional slipcase. A double-sided flyer promoting these extra-illustrated copies is laid in indicating that Franklin planned to do 50 such copies.
