Notes: The first edition of the mystery writer's memoir, with a color portrait drawing of Hillerman by the Navajo artist Ernest Franklin added to the half-title page.

These special copies (often called remarqued by collectors) were commissioned by Hillerman's friend, Ernie Bulow of Buffalo Medicine books. Franklin, who often did illustrations for Hillerman, added a drawing to a small number of copies of the first printing. These are housed in a custom slipcase made for the edition.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A fine copy in a fine dust jacket and near fine slipcase. Signed by Hillerman on the title page and by Franklin in the drawing. This copy comes from the collection of the late Tom Garner and has a holiday card signed by Franklin and Bulow laid in along with a color snapshot of Hillerman at his desk.
