Nevada Native Americans, 1906
Cyanotype Postcards of Nevada Native Americans
Publication: Reno, NV: 1906.
Notes: Four amateur photographs of Native Americans taken in Reno, Nevada, in 1906. The images are a man standing with a rifle, a seated group of women, a young child in a papoose, and the same child with a young boy. The images are on early commercially produced postcard paper.
Edition + Condition: The images are very good or better; the standing man apparently had a piece of newprint on top of it for some time and there is an irregularly shaped brown patch on the image. That photograph was not mailed. The others were mailed in 1906 to members of a Pratt family in New York. The presumed photographer, Clyde, appears to have gone to Nevada on business—in the lower margin of one card her refers to coming back to his hotel after "driving with my engineer."
