Extracts from the Flying Roll. Being a Series of Sermons Compiled for the Gentile Churches of All Sects and Denominations [Sermon I]

Publication: [London?]: [New Latter House of Israel Book Depot?], 1879. First Edition.

Notes: Jezreel, James Jershom (ca. 1848–1885), founder of the Jezreelites... He was secretive about his earlier life, cultivating the role of the ‘mysterious stranger’, but there were some suggestions in his speech and spelling that he might have been born in the United States... On 15 October 1875 he joined a small Southcottian congregation, the New House of Israel, in Chatham. He soon disturbed the calm of the group by claiming to be the sixth of the seven trumpeters in Revelation 7:2, the successor to the prophets Joanna Southcott and John Wroe. On 26 December he was expelled from the sect but set up his own New and Latter House of Israel, taking with him seventeen of the congregation, to whom he began reading his Flying Roll—a special ‘revelation’ to him from God."

This is the first volume of transcripts of the Flying Roll, a mysterious text connected to the lost tribes of Israel.
