Notes: Fourth Danish edition (Fjerde oplag), bringing the total number of copies in print to 10,000. A classic book of the 20th century, a memoir of Blixen's life on a coffee plantation in Kenya in the waning years of the British colonial empire. Blixen wrote the book in English; it was first published in London in 1937. Then she rewrote or translated the book into Danish; it became a bestseller in Denmark.
The English translation was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

Edition + Condition: A very good copy, rebound in dark green half-leather, fading at the spine. Page edges marbled; bound without the original wrappers. This copy is signed by Karen Blixen on the half-title page and dated 12th Okt. 1945, a few months after the Allies liberated Denmark. There is an ownership inscription at the top of the half-title, "Marie Rasmussen arv efter [from the estate of] Stine." Signed copies of Out of Africa are uncommon.
