Notes: An original pen-and-ink line drawing illustration of a man in a top hat about to step off of a cliff while a bird chirps at him. The image may have been published in a magazine.
6-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches on a 9-1/8 by 11-1/2 inch Whatman's water colour sketching board.
W. Heath Robinson (1872–1944) illustrated dozens of books and produced cartoons and humorous drawings for many publications. A museum dedicated to his work opened in 2016.
Edition + Condition: Signed in the image, "W.H.R." and it has the title "Mind your business" along the bottom edge. This appears to refer to the story or series as it appears on other Robinson works from the era. The image is inscribed on the back, "From W. Heath Robinson, Moy Lodge, Mass Lane, Pinner, M[I]DD[LESE]X. Eng." There are two pin holes in the upper corners, not affecting the image.
