One of 500 Signed on a Bachman Check

The Regulators [Signed, Numbered]

Publication: New York: Dutton, 1996. First Edition.

Notes: One of the more creative limited editions for a Stephen King book. The book itself is handbound in red German Iris with a stamped leather inlay at the Campbell-Logan Bindery. It is laid into a box for the MotoKops 2200 Power Wagon, a toy based on a fictional TV show in the Bachman books. This is one of 500 numbered copies signed by King as Bachman on a check affixed to the limitation page (King had killed off Bachman so having him sign the books presented a contradiction to the pseudonym's fictional universe; using a check supposedly written before Bachman died, kept the Bachman timeline consistent).

466 pages.

Edition + Condition: First edition (signed, numbered issue). A fine copy (but for a small area of darkening to the edge of the book where it rubbed against the inside of the box) in a very near fine box. The check in this case (no. 322) is made out to Paul's Down-East Supermarket for $6.00. The memo line reads "lomotil", an over-the-counter medicine to treat diarrhea. There is a cardboard box that neatly fits the book box but I am not sure it is original.
