Published very near the beginning of the Chicano literary movement, this anthology presents works by eleven writers, including Miguel Mendez-M., Alurista, and José Montoya. A number of works are presented in both Spanish and English versions. This anthology was republished many times in the 1970s, with pieces by an evolving group of writers and a new title, referencing Chicano rather than Mexican-American literature.
